The Athenians experimented with democracy and voted to go to war with Sparta. But what would

have happened of they had decided not to go to war?

Sparta won the war, but war between the city-states hurt everyone. Eventually, other countries ruled Greece. There was no democracy in Greece for thousands of years. Would democracy have continued had Athens decided not to go to war against Sparta?

Would so many people have died in the plague if the entire population of Athens had not been crowded within the walls of the city? What other great works of art would Athens have created if Pericles and one-fifth of Athens’ population had not died from the plague?
